Midland rings in the New Year with a Vegan Afternoon Tea revamp

20 January 2020 by Neil Sowerby

JUST when you thought Veganuary had peaked along comes another tempting plant-based treat. The Midland Hotel’s Tea Room has refreshed its Vegan Afternoon Tea (along with the trad version too).

Of course, with a vegan diet for the many not the few now, you’ll be able to enjoy it beyond the 31st. Even meat-eating diehards might be tempted by a sandwich array including Coronation Tempeh on Brown Bread, Heritage Carrot Tartar on White Bread and Roasted Red Pepper, Vegan Cheese and Rocket on Brown.

Alongside freshly baked sultana and plain vegan scones, served with sweetened soy cream and Mrs Darlington’s jams, there is also a selection of cakes, including Dark Chocolate Sponge, with Chocolate Ganache & Frosted Walnuts, Cinnamon Scented Banana Cake and Olive Oil and Pistachio Polenta Cake.

The Vegan Menu is £28 per person and is available, like the various other Afternoon Tea options, seven days a week, Mon-Fri 1pm-4.30pm and Sat-Sun 12.30pm-6.30pm. Book online via www.themidlandhotel.co.uk.

Both the Vegan and Traditional Afternoon versions can be upgraded to include a glass of Bouche Cuvee Brut, which increases the cost to £38 per person. So let’s forget Dry January then!
