New Botanist for Knutsford but is the Oast House living on borrowed time?

19 March 2016 by Neil Sowerby

FLOURISHING times for the New World Trading Company, scooping two awards – Best Employer and Best Managed Pub Company – at The Publican Awards 2016. Oh, and they’ve also rummaged through their toybox of rustic artefacts to plentifully kit out a jolly new Botanist in Knutsford (see above). A launch lunch suggested it's going to do rather well.

It’s on the site of the former Knutsford Wine Bar and follows the food and drink formula of Manchester Deansgate and eight other Botanists right down to those ‘hanging kebabs’ you also find in stablemate The Oast House in Spinningfields.

Speaking of which, the future of this most enduring of pop-up boozers is in some doubt after their Allied London landlords announced provisional plans to replace it with a different  kind of leisure building, not centred on craft beer. Early days yet, though.

A New World spokesperson commented: "We understand that these plans for the Oast House and Courtyard space are currently in their infancy and are at the idea stage and we are of course in discussions with Allied London on this very exciting development."
