IT’S a Ribble Valley reunion in Cheshire. Nigel Haworth is guesting for one night only in the kitchens of Yu Alderley Edge alongside chef/patron Victor Yu, whose original Chinese restaurant, Yu & You is just along the A59 from Nigel’s Michelin-starred Northcote.
The chef pals (pictured above) will cook a bespoke five-course dinner on Thursday, April 6 It features a Chinese take on Nigel’s Great British Menu-winning hot pot in dim sum form, with pickled red cabbage asa dip, as well as ‘Nigel snacks’, BBQ Blackened Cod, Special Organic Fried rice, Wagyu Beef Ribs, PakChoi with Organic Potato Puree & Crunchy Bits and Sicilian Lemon Meringue Pie, finishing with Chinese Sweet Meats.
The banquet costs £85 per head and includes a signed Obsessions Cook Book (one per couple), which springs from the annual Northcote celebration of Nigel’s great chef mates.
Glamorous Yu has not been short of accolades since its opening under 18 months ago.
It won Restaurant of the Year at the 2016 Cheshire Life Food and Drink Awards and received the Tier 3 Pagoda gong as one of the top six Chinese restaurants in the UK. More recently, Yu was awarded the Chairman’s Choice for International Dining Restaurant of the Year in South Manchester at the Eat Drink Sleep Awards.
