Poetry, pints and sweet sounds at Sadler’s Yard Summer Jam

2 August 2017

ALL tickets have gone for the Sadler’s Yard Summer Jam this Saturday (August 5), but there is a limited number of on the day walk-ins for this free festival of music food and beer, which runs from 12pm to 11pm in and outside The Pilcrow Pub at the heart of the Co-ops NOMA development.

There’s a range of homegrown acts across four stages, covering everything from spoken word and jazz to surf rock with street food from Big Grillie Style, Pietanic and Que Delicia (a taste of Portugal, our tip) to complement a range of modern seasonal beers from The Pilcrow, naturally.

The main stage features Tony Walsh, whose poem This is the Place became a symbol for Manchester after the Arena attack, alongside Brunelle, Ry Vieira, Koalas, Beach Skulls and Hot Shorts,l supported by DJ sets from Ailsa McLaggan and Pasta Paul.

The acoustic stage features Claire Victoria, Jennifer Reid, Jo Rose, Jess Kemp and Jack Conman, while more leftfield activities are happening in Plant Noma – including a ceramics throwing workshop with Charlie Manthorp, Noisy Toys upcycling workshop, and an interactive experimental gramophone session with artist Naomi Kashiwagi.

Add in a free sample of Manchester based Duerrs jam to the first 300 people through the gate and The Summer Jam certainly looks a sweet day out. Children and four legged friends welcome.
