Salvi's chefs go back to the classroom on a healthy Med Diet mission

15 February 2017

THE team from Salvi’s Mozzarella Bar in Manchester spent the day at Hopwood County Primary school in Heywood with a very special Italian kitchen takeover.

Salvi’s owner Maurizio Cecco and chefs from his restaurant in the centre of Manchester, prepared an Italian style lunch as well as teaching the pupils all about the health benefits of eating a Mediterranean diet and giving lessons on how to make the perfect pasta.

This activity is a valuable part of the school’s Design and Technology week that has a specific focus on cooking. It includes teaching where where ingredients are grown, reared, caught and processed as well as preparing and cooking using a range of different cooking techniques.

The team cooked a lunch of for over 300 pupils and staff and then taught the children to make their own fresh pasta dishes.
