THERE’S new life being breathed into The Blue Pig, one of the casualties of bar operator MAD Ltd's liquidation last October. NQ bar/grill operator Shack is taking over the characterful High Street site from Friday, March 1.
Forced out of its old Hilton Street venue after it was sold, Shack has big plans for The Blue Pig, closed since last October. Manager Sam Maughan has plans to develop its disused 5,000 sq ft basement space, hoping to transform it by summer into a late-night bar, featuring ping pong and beer pong tables, pool and screens for Sky Sports and BT Sport. Upstairs will recreate the stripped back Shack look but retain the Pig’s outdoor seating area.
To celebrate Shack's reopening, they are running a huge giveaway – 100 free burgers (among thr e city’s best) and 100 drinks for the first people through the door on March 1.
Shack will be open from 10am seven days a week, closing at 11pm Sunday to Wednesday, midnight on Thursdays, and 2.30am on Fridays and Saturdays. It will run bottomless brunch events at the weekends, plus a £6 lunch deal on weekdays.
