Starry chef line-up for ‘Odyssey of Taste’ at Yu Alderley Edge

FOLLOWING the success of its inaugural run last year, the Odyssey of Taste is set to return to Yu Alderley Edge this October, with an incredible line-up joining Victor Yu in the kitchen. Indeed it begins to look like a  junior version of Yu pal Nigel Haworth’s annual Obsession festival at Northcote.

 This premium gastronomic event will see a six night run, with a different chef cooking each night, creating a bespoke menu on each occasion.

The brilliant Steve Smith, chef/owner of the multi award-winning Freemasons at Wiswell, kicks off proceedings, returning to Yu on Tuesday, October 3.

Following Steve, Yu’s young team of chefs will take the reins, and be given a chance to shine on Wednesday, October 4, while Victor Yu and Yuk Ming Man will provide a bespoke menu on Thursday, October 5. Both nights will see the Yu chefs move away from the normal Yu menu, with new dishes created for their events.

Lisa Goodwin-Allen, exec head chef at Michelin-starred Northcote, and Great British Menu winner in 2010, will join Victor Yu in the kitchen on Friday October 6. 

Nelly Robinson (above), owner of nel. in Sydney, Australia, is set to return to the UK to provide a bespoke menu at Yu on Saturday October 7. Hailing from Lancashire originally, Nelly apprenticed at Northcote at 15, before moving to Stanley House in 2007. Nelly, at just 29, opened nel to huge acclaim Down Under.

Odyssey of Taste concludes on Sunday 8th October with Jeremy Pang (main picture). Coming from three generations of Chinese chefs, Jeremy established School of Wok in London in 2009, a mobile cookery school specialising in teaching Eastern cuisine to students in the comfort of their own homes. In May 2012 School of Wok opened its HQ in Covent Garden.
