Tasting notes: Anna Tutton of vin-yard wine bar + shop

11 July 2019 by Neil Sowerby

My favourite place to eat out in Manchester is… Relative newcomer Erst in Ancoats has a gorgeous small plate selection that's ideal for sharing (which is my perfect way to eat). Not only delicious food but an amazing by the glass wine list too.

The best dish I’ve eaten in Manchester recently is… The mushroom and artichoke dish (below) as part of the tasting menu at restaurant MCR is  seriously incredible.

My favourite dining room in Manchester is… It has to be the The Refuge – such an amazing transformation of a brilliant building with an atmosphere to match. Never a dull moment, the perfect place for two or a crowd.

My favourite lunch spot in Manchester is… I love Evelyn’s. It’s a brunch/lunch heaven, lovely varied menu and I always feel like I could stay and while away the day into night.

If I had to eat only one thing for the rest of my days it would be… I cant pick just one, Two please, bread and cheese. Perfect for wine!

Former stockbroker Anna ignited her love of wine working for Reserve in Didsbury. In partnership she launched a mobile wine bar, Vin Van Voom, before working for Hangingditch and Cork of the North while studying for her wine exams. The dream was to run her own place. A friend told her about Hatch, the expanding indie food and drink/retail hub on Oxford Road. They offered her a shipping container to start up vin-yard with its ever-changing menu including vegan, organic, natural and biodynamic wines, to drink in or take away. Open Tue-Wed 1pm-9pm, Thu-Sat 1pm-11pm.
