THE ALCHEMIST ON NEW YORK STREET CELEBRATES FOUR YEARS ON THE FOURTH OF JULY

30 June 2016 by Neil Sowerby

NEW York Street sounds just the spot to celebrate American Independence Day – and a star-spangled bar birthday, too.

The Alchemist on that thoroughfare turns four on July 4 with an American themed bash from 5.30 to 9pm. Expect American inspired food and cocktails alongside a Statue of Liberty ice sculpture and show girls.

The first Alchemist opened in Spinningfields in late 2010, followed by its New York Street sibling in July 2012.  Since when this venue has served over 223,000 main meals and sold over 660,000 cocktails – the most popular being its signature Smokey Old Fashioned. (28,000 sold). Which tech whizz keeps these tallies, TOM wonders? And how do Spinningfields, London and the Leeds duo compare?

We aim to get down on Monday in our Uncle Sam costumes to try and trounce the Smokey with a run on the barrel-aged Negroni.

The Alchemist, 1 New York Street, Manchester M1 4HD. 0161 228 3856.
