HERE at ToM we like an occasional away day to Leeds. It’s where we first got into the amazing Budobust and some amazing breweries whose beers are now regularly on tap this side of the Pennines.
Our biggest discovery of last year was HOME, founded by Masterchef 2016 semi-finalist Elizabeth Cottam and Mark Owens, formerly of The Box Tree, The Star Inn, and La Gavroche. Contemporary fine dining with a real dash, we thought.
Now comes your chance to sample their food without braving the perils of Northern Rail. The Rabbit In The Moon, on the top floor of the Urbis, is hosting the HOME team for a one-off exclusive dinner on Thursday, July 19.
The collaboration will involve a a special tasting menu where dishes from the two restaurants will be served side by side. Should be quite extraordinary pitting HOME’s modern British reimagining of familiar flavours with The Rabbit’s innovative, Asian-influenced dishes. Below is the menu…
Bloody Mary & Bacon; White Chocolate, Cherry & Pistachio Lollies; Smoked Eel, Oyster Sauce, Avocado; Porthilly Oyster, Pickled Ginger, Wasabi.
“Carrot Salad”, Heirloom Carrots, Tartare, Hazelnut & Fennel; Mackerel, Black Sesame, Strawberry, Ponzu.
Suckling Pig, Gooseberry Turnover, Black Pudding, Burnt Onion; Roast Duck Breast, Singapore Noodles, Salt & Pepper Squid, Plum.
Coconut & Caramelised White Chocolate; Raspberry Cheesecake, Tarragon, White Chocolate. Then petits fours.
