THE REFUGE TOASTS CHINESE NEW YEAR WITH JADE EMPEROR

4 February 2019 by Neil Sowerby

CHECK out our five restaurants in which to celebrate the Year of the Pig, but you can toast the Chinese New Year with a liquid homage, too.

Mixologists at The Refuge have designed an Asian-inspired cocktail, The Jade Emperor, described as ”the perfect tipple to toast a year of good fortune”.

It’s available exclusively at The Refuge bar inside the Principal Hotel  from Monday , February 4 until Sunday, February 10, costing £9.

The Jade Emperor consists of Beefeater 24 gin, kiwi purée, pineapple juice, lemon juice, gomme syrup, shaken with a slice of cucumber. Beautiful, edible flowers, cucumber ribbon, and lychee add the finishing touches.

In Chinese culture, Jade stone is considered invaluable as the colour symbolises the virtues of sincerity, loyalty, justice, wisdom and purity. Everything needed to welcome good luck into the Lunar New Year.

The Refuge Public Bar opens from 11am - 11pm.
