This is how Mr Cooper's will look after its current refurb

13 January 2020

WELL, we never saw this one coming. Mr Cooper’s, The Midland’s modern British Brasserie, has closed to undergo extensive refurb – as part of a wider £14m investment at the iconic hotel.

Above is a cgi of how it will look (think of it as belonging to the Bill's school of restaurant design) when it reopens in spring, switching to a new bistro-style menu. 'Appealing to both guests and non-residents', which makes sense.

The Midland’s in-house butcher and pastry team will continue to play a starring role with seasonal, British ingredients a key focal point. That was very much in evidence when we reviewed their impressive Sunday menu in November. Decor, in contrast, did look in need of some TLC. It looks like the resident indoor tree has got the chop.

Guests already booked into Mr Cooper’s as part of their stay will still be accommodated, in a different area of the hotel.

Mr Cooper’s, The Midland Hotel, Peter Street, Manchester, M60 2DS.
