Tom Kerridge to oversee food and drink at new Stock Exchange Hotel

3 June 2019 by Neil Sowerby

IT’S official. Tom Kerridge, Mr High Profile Chef himself, has been announced as the overseer of food and drink at the eagerly awaited Stock Exchange Hotel – 35-room boutique venture from GG Hospitality.

Conversion work on the Grade-II listed Edwardian Baroque building at 4 Norfolk Street (back of the Arndale) has taken a while – planning permission was given back in 2015 – but it will open in the autumn, complete, we believe, with restaurant, bar, rooftop terrace and gym.

The original plan was for Michael O’Hare of Leeds’ Michelin-stared The Man Behind The Curtain to curate the restaurant side but that fell by the wayside. In his place comes Kerridge.

Quite a coup – his Hand and Flower gastropub in Marlow, Bucks, boasts two stars and, thanks to telly stardom and books, is one of the nation’s best-loved chefs. His travelling Pub In The Park festival comes to Knutsford this weekend (June 7-9).

Kerridge is pleased to be playing a part at the boutique hotel, a flagship project of GG Hospitality, co-owned by Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs, and very different from their Hotel Football at Old Trafford.

The larger-than-life chef told us: “This is a really exciting opening for us. The hotel is going to be stunning and we’re very happy to be working with GG Hospitality. We can’t say much at this stage, but I can say that we’ll be bringing a bit of Marlow up to Manchester. We are very much looking forward to being a part of the city and joining the exciting and vibrant Manchester food scene."

Winston Zahra CEO of GG Hospitality says: “We are looking forward to opening the Stock Exchange Hotel and will be releasing all of the details in the coming weeks. We are especially happy to have partnered up with Tom on the food and beverage side of the hotel and are very much looking forward to working with Tom and his team in Manchester”.
