Tom Kerridge’s Pub in the Park where grub meets pop

26 May 2019 by Neil Sowerby

PUB In The Park has become quite a rollercoaster event for Tom Kerridge. He first launched the food meets music festival back in 2017 in Marlow, Bucks, home to his two Michelin-starred gastropub, the Hand and Flowers. In 2018 Bath, Tunbridge Wells and Knutsford came on board as outdoor venues and this year it has spiralled into eight events across the UK, including Knutsford again – back at The Lambing Shed. for the June7-9 weekend.

The menu is the same – a terrific line-up of gastropub chefs (with a MIchelin star or two in the mix) plus a solid middle of the road music offering.

Newcomers to the chef roster are Lancashire hero Steven Smith (below) of The Freemasons at Wiswell and Andrew Greenhouse from The Cholmondeley Arms in Malpas. Steve promises chicken kebabs,  gourmet hot dogs and poached salmon from the River Lune (main image), while Andrew plans beer-fried chicken, Earl Grey-infused chickpea and spinach curry, and slow-braised Cheshire rabbit risotto.

All dishes will cost £5 throughout the weekend at a variety of pup-up pub/restaurants. Check out the rest of the menus here – created by the likes of Kerridge himself, Steven Terry (The Hardwick), Andrew Pern (The Star Inn) and Richard Williams (Church Inn, Mobberley). They will be joined by joined by fellow chefs David Mooney and Stosie Parker to run demos.

Music acts will rock the main stage throughout each session. Headliners include Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Texas and Will Young.

Alongside all of this (if it isn’t enough!) there’ll be plenty of bars serving all sorts of bevs from cocktails to cold ones, chef demonstrations, masterclasses, tastings and plenty of shopping from artisans and lifestyle brands.
