What’s your beef? Fazenda brings a flavour of Brazil to Spinningfields

21 October 2014

BRAZIL knows how to stage World Cups (if not to wine them these days). It also wins fans with the way it grills meat on the evidence of Fazenda’s success in Leeds and Liverpool. Now the upmarket chain is bringing its ‘churrascaria’-style (‘from the barbecue’) dining to Manchester.

This ‘Rodizio Bar and Grill’ is opening in The Avenue, Spinningfields in early November. The 1,800 sq. ft. space will boast 178 covers and an outdoor area for another 50 diners to enjoy its freshly-grilled joints, carved from joints at the table with exceptional standards of service.

If it all sounds a bit like Bem Brazil, which has two outlets in the city, off Deansgate and up in Ancoats, well the Fazenda folk are promising a more authentic experience, replicating the stylish destination restaurants found in the dynamic, cosmopolitan cities of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Whatever, the expanding City District group are investing £2m in their latest outlet, creating 62 jobs.

Rodizio means rotating, applying to the grilling and the style of service. Diners can expect a continuous service choice of 15 different cuts of beef, chicken, lamb and pork, while a salad bar caters for all diners, with options including sushi, smoked salmon, cured meats, hot dishes and traditional Brazilian dishes. Signature dish will be the cap of rump or ‘picanha’, the main cut in Brazil.

Fazenda makes the experience easy and enjoyable with a set price under which diners signal to the ‘passadores’ (meat chefs) by displaying a green card to be served, or red card for ‘pause’.

A temperature-controlled wine room and an award-winning cocktail list supply the appropriate tipples. Rodizio Bar and Grill
