Who needs 20 Stories when you’ve got The Lume?

28 January 2019

THE Lume? Us neither until we went down to this monumental dual hotel complex just across from the RNCM off Oxford Road to review its restaurant, The Laureate. It was rather impressive.

Much delayed, the 19 storey tower only opened in September 2018 and is home to two InterContinentalHotelGroup brands, Crowne Plaza Oxford Road and The Staybridge Suites

Occupying the lower 12 storeys, Crowne Plaza Manchester features 212 guest rooms, a 120-seat restaurant, bar, fully equipped 24-hour gym, club lounge and seven state-of-the-art meeting rooms. We like its bar, too, inevitably in uni land, called The Graduate.

Located on the upper seven floors, Staybridge Suites offers a mix of 116 modern studio and one-bedroom suites featuring fully-equipped kitchens and panoramas of the city from the terrace on the 18th floor.

As spectacular as the view from 20 Storeys in city centre Spinningfields? Definitely and the bar prices aren’t anywhere like as grasping.

Guests also have access to the 24-hour gym, laundry facilities and complimentary hot and cold buffet breakfast in the “Hub” kitchen. The hotel also hosts The Social three evenings a week, an informal opportunity for guests to mingle and get to know their on-site team over complimentary drinks and nibbles.

After enjoying dinner at The Laureate (book in from either hotel) ToM stayed over at The Staybridge Suites, which are both luxurious and dog-friendly, a big plus in Manchester these days.
