Xolo – Black Dog Ballroom Baldly Goes All Mexican

18 September 2014

MEXICAN day of the Dead? Caramba! Taste of Manchester will down a shot or three any time as a toast to Los Muertes. That’s’s why we’ll be heading down to Xolo, a Mexican themed tequila bar beneath Black Dog Ballroom’s New Wakefield Street venue.

This 400 capacity space, previously occupied by basement nightclub Underdog, has been redesigned by Cheeky Tiki, who were also behind the look of The Liars Lounge at newly opened sister bar Cane & Grain. Xolo means “Mexican bald dog” apparently.

Student-friendly, it will offer a bespoke list of cocktails inspired by Mexico’s favourite tipple including frozen Margaritas, sharers such as the Zombita, a heady mix of tequila, tropical fruits and fire or the Tijuana Sangria, which is tequila mixed with red wine, lemon and orange and shot paddles.

Xolo will be open Thursday 8pm until late, Friday 5pm until late and Saturday 8pm until late. Black Dog Ballroom, New Wakefield Street – 0161 236 4899.
