You can’t beat B.Eat Street – the Great Northern parties are back

13 April 2017

DO you miss those madcap Friday Food Fights at The Great Northern? Back in 2014 they were a foodie breath of fresh air (often tinged with garlic and booze), attrcating 70,000 folk over 14 months to the late night foodie slams. The impetus was lost a touch when organisers B.eat Street took the street fooders from pop-up to permanent up on Deansgate Mews in 2016.

That micro-diner experiment was shut down in February after it failed to attract the necessary footfall. Minus the traders, its scaled-down future was to be a hireable events space. Now another about-turn is on the cards with the collective announcing a series of intimate summer street parties beginning Friday 28 April (4pm-midnight).

These will take place in a fully exposed sun terrace, serviced by two reinvented bars that are already up and running – Cuban cocktail joint The Golden Pineapple in the former Milk of Burgundy wine bar space and live music venue Junior Jackson’s (the former Bunny Jackson's now reassigned to what was Kozel Lokal).

Add in a surprise package of food vendors and an exciting roster of DJs and that’s your weekends sorted out until August Bank Holiday. Saturday and Sunday opening times are midday to midnight. Find out more at beatstreetmcr.co.uk
