Southern California street food hits the groove at The Beagle

31 March 2015

THE Beagle in Chorlton has rarely stood still with its food offering and its latest hot streak is for ‘Southern Californian street food flavours and Calexican classics’.

Using a fusion of American, Mexican and Korean ingredients, the updated menu has been crafted to accompany the pub’s celebrated beer and cocktails selection.

Their new Pick and Mix Snacks are especially attractive – three dishes for £9.95, including the likes of Baja Fish Tacos with crispy-crumbed coley, lime slaw and caper mayo, and sweetcorn fritters with lime creme. Other spicy treats on offer include buttermilk-fried chicken, the El Segundo burger with Existential Crisis Hot Sauce and various burritos, salads and  burgers.

Our favourite on an easter Weekend visit was the Choi Boi Burger piling kimchi, sesame mayo, gochuchang and crispy shallots on a 6oz spiced pattie made across the road at Frost’s Butchers. The beer selection,as you'd expect, from The Beagle, was mighty.

The Beagle’s new covered terrace area was heaving. This has been sealed from the elements, increasing the snug drinking and dining area in the winter, while in the summer months, the doors can be thrown open to create a sun terrace for al fresco drinks.
