Theres an episode of cult TV show Portlandia which includes a sketch all about how people in Portland make cafes, cups, bags and clothes desireable to hipsters by putting a bird on it. Fig and Sparrow has birds and thus hipsters all over it, but dont let that put you off whats an exceptional flat white. Another bonus is that Fig and Sparrow have an excellent relationship with the team from Trove artisan bakery in Levenshulme so the breads are a cut above. Try, for example, smoked salmon and cream cheese on toasted molasses and sunflower bread with Earl Grey (£6.95) or how about mixed grapes, plus rye and fennel seed bread with organic peanut butter and Darjeeling tea (£6.50) or granola with yoghurt (£1.70). NB. No hot food is served at Fig and Sparrow but breakfast options are served all day.
