Greens is the flagship vegetarian restaurant of TV chef, Simon Rimmer and hes been trading on his name since the restaurant opened in the mid 1990s. Often regarded as slightly expensive, you get what you pay for at Greens which is upmarket vegetarian dishes, crafted with care as well as a plush fine dining environment, in the neighbourhood restaurant mould. Think velvet drapes, candlelight and mahogany coloured seating. The soft, herby vegetarian sausages are particularly good and made on site, as is the black pudding, smoked cheese and spinach puff pastry parcel served with white onion puree. Some dishes (such as the average curries) nod to the trends of the mid 1990s, but this is nevertheless a suburban favourite with good reason. Wines are diverse and complement the dishes on offer, service is almost flawless.
