Rosso’s setting is magnificent – a 126-year-old grade II listed former bank in a prominent spot at the top of King Street. Ex-United star Rio Ferdinand has a stake in the place and it’s always a good spot for celeb watching.

An opulent marble bar is the first thing you see as you enter the dramatic white venue. The Italian food is equally rich with a fine Italian wine list to match. Try the whole sea bass with fennel and saffron potatoes, or porchetta with pulled pork and cabbage arancini, braised pig’s cheek, apple cider jelly and honey jus. Prices are top-end, but you can sometimes find good lunch bargains. 

At Christmas time Rosso looks spectacular as they go all out festooning the restaurant with thousands of baubles and decorations.
