Christmas Egg? A taste of Manchester in Albert Square

21 December 2014

ADMIT it – you’ve had enough German sausage to last you until next year’s Christmas Markets. Now, as the Markets are about to shut up shop, it’s time seek a special pre-Christmas culinary treat from nearer home. The legendary Manchester Egg (@manchesteregg) is being sold at the Lancashire Hotpot Stall on Albert Square. Ben Holden created the prototype back in 2010 and his pal, much-loved chef Robert Owen Brown, has picked up the baton, sticking to the trusted formula of a pickled egg wrapped in pork meat and black pudding then, coated in breadcrumbs. He’ll also be happy to flog you a goodie-packed Christmas Gourmet Box, as recommended by TOM. Full details of ths Taste of the Season hamper here.
