ROBERT Owen Brown has led a nomadic consultant’s existence since the publication of his acclaimed cook book, Crispy Squirrel and Vimto Trifle and the closure of The Mark Addy as a restaurant a year ago.

But the charismatic chef has been working on a number of interesting projects – the latest of which has come on stream with perfect timing, just before Christmas. The Winter Gourmet Box is  the first in a seasonal range of speciality range of speciality food and drink hampers, curated by the chef and his local producer pals, emphasising – as you’d expect from Rob – the quality of our region’s foodstuffs. 

This indulgent compendium of foodie treats will arrive in a specially made wooden crate, with temperature controlled packaging.Inside there’s British wood-smoked ham, duck and caramelised onion pate, an orange, redcurrant and onion chutney, mature organic Lancashire from Leagrams Dairy, Goosnargh biscuits, coffee beans from Ancoats Coffee Company, alcoholic ginger ale from Blackjack Brewery, plus hand-made by Rob himself a selection of dark and milk rum and raisin truffles and a rich seasonal fruit cake.
