4244 named in 100 best places to eat list

18 December 2014

CONGRATULATIONS yet again to chef Mary-Ellen McTague, who seems have scooped more accolades than she’s cooked hot dinners. Her 4244 temporary home, in the Northern Quarter, is the only Taste of Manchester area representative in the Top 100 places to Eat announced by Open Table, the online restaurant reservation service.

London restaurants dominate the list (all four Hawksmoors, indeed!) and the only other two North West places to feature are both in Chester – Upstairs at the Grill and self-styled food hub The Chef’s Table, which makes it to No.3 in the list, ahead of both Heston Blumenthal restaurants and just behind Gordon Ramsay.

The final list was compiled using 340,000 Open Table reviews across the UK in the last 12 months. 4244’s stay at the back of Teacup in Edge Street has been extended  until December 23. All  bookings via the website www.4244.co.uk. The ‘mothership’ Aumbry in Prestwich is still closed due to renovations and ongoing discussions over the lease.
