Stockport’s blossoming transformation in the last ten years has truly been something to behold. Turning from “a bit sh*t” to “actually really lovely” with each addition to its historic town centre and the transformation continued this weekend with Runaway Brewery opening their doors to the public.
A Manchester favourite for some time now, Runaway are known for carefully brewing by hand and focusing on small batches with big flavours, however as is natural they were beginning to outgrow their microbrewery and were in need of a next step. Cue, Stockport.
Now situated on Astley street in Stockport town centre, the brewers also enjoy a view of the River Mersey in a slightly more scenic section of the town. Food lovers can also rejoice as they’ll be joined by popular pizza slingers Honest Crust throughout the spring and summertime period.
It goes without saying that Runaway will be providing a range of fantastic ales but what is there specifically? Well you’ll be able to enjoy a range of freshly brewed beers including ten keg lines of Runaway beers as well as some guest beers from a huge array of different breweries, plus two options on cask as well.
Mark Welsby, Runaway Brewery’s founder had this to say: “We’re all really excited by our move to Stockport and to be shifting Runaway’s focus a little. We hope our move from the inner-city will allow us a bit more time to explore the things that inspire us and our beer. We’re really looking forward to engaging with a new community here in Stockport – especially opportunities to collaborate with other indie food and drink producers!”
The Taproom will be available to visit on Thursdays 1 – 10pm and Fri & Sat 1 – 10:30pm. They’ll also be holding brewery tours every Friday at 4pm as well as the first Saturday of the month at 12:30PM.
