A free Glastonbury festival weekender is coming to Manchester

23 May 2022 by Deanna Thomas

From Somerset to Cheetham Hill – street food and entertainment hub GRUB are to host a weekend of food vendors, craft beer, DJs, and festival fun in partnership with Vocation Brewery. GRUBstonbury will take place between 24th-26th June 2022, at Red Bank in Manchester’s Green Quarter, when they will also be showing Glastonbury live on big screens throughout the big festival weekend.

The event will bring together all the best bits of a festival: music, dancing, food, drinks and entertainment, without the mud and soggy tents, or the traffic jams. Event Organiser Ellie Garfield-Ford came up with the idea of GRUBstonbury after wondering how to bring the best bits of this famous festival to our doorstep.

“We all know it’s been tough getting our fill of festival fun these past couple of years, whether it’s down to covid or sourcing tickets,” she says. “I thought, ‘why not bring the festival to Manchester?’

GRUBstonbury will be a full weekend venue takeover featuring some of Manchester’s best-known DJs, including Jonny Shire and Joe Webster (from Creating Patterns Radio), Jamie Groovement (hosting with his daughter under the alias Agent J and DJAY Ana May) and Grub’s very own Dabs.

Also expect a wide range of the best independent local street food traders, craft beer, and a garden bar takeover from Rockstar Spirits (as seen on This Morning and Dragons Den). Entertainment will include a special edition of Grub’s sell-out Disco Bingo, with the theme of ‘Best of Glastonbury’. To get everybody in the festival mood there will also be face painting and glitter, Glastonbury themed cinema screenings and more TBC to ensure the whole weekend is full of fun.

Bring your friends and your best festival attire - wellies are optional. Entry is free but guests are encouraged people to reserve tables HERE to secure a spot.
