Chef Simon Wood, the creative force behind WOOD Restaurants, has introduced a new cheese and wine experience on the second floor of his First Street venue.
Homage will offer guests a relaxed journey through a series of cheese courses together with expertly matched chutneys, interesting accompaniments, and hand-picked wines. All produce will be sourced from the best local artisanal dairies and producers, foragers and craftspeople or made on the premises in the WOOD kitchens.
Homage, which will open Wednesday-Saturday evenings, will take over the former private dining area of the acclaimed restaurant. With only seven tables available each night, the experience is expected to be booked out weeks in advance due to its limited availability.
Guests will be able to sample the likes of Blue Whinnow with English Quince Membrillo, paired with South African Buitenverwachting Cabernet Merlot; Stitchelon with Assiette of Beetroot, Fairview Sweet Red, Paarl, South Africa, 2017; Truffle Baron Bigod with Beluga Tsar Imperial Pertossian Caviar paired with d’Oliveira Moscatel (1900); Hebridean Blue paired with Sandeman Vau Vintage Port 1999 and Mrs Kirkham’s, cheese from the highly revered Lancashire dairy, accompanied by Ox Cheek and paired with Argentinian Pulenta Estate Malbec.
Homage will be the Former Masterchef champion’s third concept following WOOD Manchester where he resides as Chef Patron, and his second restaurant, WoodKraft Cheltenham.
“WOOD has defied all expectations and brought unintimidating fine dining to Manchester,” says Simon. “We are thrilled to be launching Homage as a complementary concept, and it will be a first of its kind in the UK.
“Homage is about connecting, sitting back and enjoying time with family, friends and colleagues, whether you’re having a quiet taster and glass of wine with a friend you’ve not seen in years, or a business meeting over a long port with an associate.”
Opening on Thursday 18 November, for more information and bookings visit Homage at WOOD.
