A new Greek restaurant from the team behind Tattu is opening in Manchester

15 September 2023

By now, you should be more than familiar with Spinningfields celebrity hotspot Tattu. The contemporary Chinese restaurant has become an incredibly popular place for luxury dining, and now the team has turned its attention to a new restaurant and a new cuisine.

Opening this November, FENIX will bring a menu of Greek-Mediterranean food to a new site in Spinningfields. Diners can expect fresh fluffy pittas, hummus, tomato confit and feta espuma and smoked taramasalata with fresh white fish roe cream on the menu, alongside some impressive grill dishes.

The restaurant has enlisted the help of executive head chef Ippokratis Anagnostelis and his long-time collaborator, Zisis Giannouras to lead the venue’s kitchen. Anagnostelis is known for his work across a number of fine dining institutions in Athens and Mykonos. The pair have created a menu that is made to be shared, taking customers on a journey of authentic Greek cuisine.

There’ll be bowls of spicy meatballs and grilled octopus, as FENIX aims to showcase some of the freshest meat and seafood you’ll find in the city. The meat will be cooked on a show-stopping charcoal grill centrepiece in front of diners, very much mirroring the extroverted attitude of its sister restaurant Tattu.

FENIX’s wine menu will feature specially selected Greek bottles that have been picked to pair with the smoky undertones of the charcoaled menu. And if you’re a sucker for a well thought out cocktail, FENIX will also feature 16 creations that celebrate the four elements: water, earth, air and fire.

The restaurant has been designed by Fabled Studio, an award-winning lead interior design studio in London. It will mimic the sunrise and sunset using innovative lighting that will transform the vibe from a glowing daytime to a romantic moonlit date spot come evening.

The bar will also be dressed with beautiful rich dark oak tables complimented by golds and soft marble – reminiscent of tranquil poolside restaurants and beachside resorts.

FENIX will open its doors to the public this November. You can keep an eye on its social media page here for any updates.
