A New Mozzarella Bar lands in Exchange Square

26 January 2012

Salvi’s Deli brings some dolce vita in Neil Sowerbys life

MOZZARELLA Bar is an odd one. The Obika chain kicked off the concept in the Noughties, spreading its single-minded focus on this freshest of cheeses from Rome across the globe.
Salvi’s claims to be one, importing Mozzarella di Bufala Campana DOP, the softer buffalo milk variety, from a family farm near Milan, but it is more of an all-rounder, serving as a coffee halt and dishing up pasta meals to take away alongside a range of good quality Italian staples including some attractive antipasti and fresh bread.
It’s a very welcome addition to the Triangle (you enter from Exchange Square, rather than from the tumbleweed-strewn commercial interior) and a good place to pick up quick supper ingredients if you are exiting the city via Victoria.
Or you could miss a train or two by indulging in a prosecco nightcap from a short but distinctive wine list. Salvis has an 11pm licence.
