A Night of Fine Dining at The Lowry

28 September 2011

The Lowry celebrated the arrival of their new executive chef Oliver Thomas by putting on a night of fine dinning as part of Salford Food and Drink Festival.

Thomas has built over a decade of experience climbing the ranks, from Chef de Partie to Executive Head Chef, in a selection of Manchester’s most prestigious venues including The Lowry Hotel where he was a member of the 2001 opening team for Marco Pierre White’s restaurant, The River Room.

Tony Smith, Commercial Director at The Lowry, says: “We are very excited to welcome Oliver. His culinary skill and experience, combined with his energy, creativity and flair makes him the perfect candidate to take The Lowry’s dining experience to another level.”

During the special evening guests were treated to a menu that highlighted the best of Modern British cuisine and included some of Thomas’s favourite seasonal ingredients.
The stand out dishes included the Squash veloute and wild sea bass, braised chicken wing, served on a bed of brown rice and lentils.

Thomas says, “The Lowry has become one of Salford’s most iconic buildings, I am extremely excited to take up the challenge of putting the venue on the map as one of the City’s premiere food destinations.”

Diners will get the chance to sample Thomas’s creations as part of another event on Saturday 8th October ‘Come dine with metrolink’ which will take palce during Manchester Food and Drink Festival (7th -17th Oct) For more details and to book visit www.foodanddrinkfestival.com
