Adam Reid at The French triumphs with four AA rosettes

25 September 2018 by Neil Sowerby

TWO of the North West’s top destination restaurants were showered with Rosettes at this year’s AA Hospitality Awards. Moor Hall at Aughton near Ormskirk was one of three scooping the coveted five Rosettes, while Adam Reid at The French was awarded four.

It’s further proof of the region’s rising culinary profile. The two venues, helmed by Simon Rogan proteges Mark Birchall and Adam Reid, were respectively 11th and 13th in the Good Food Guide 2019 Top 50 and with days to go to this year’s Michelin UK announcement expectations are rising for Moor Hall (below) to add to its single star and The French finally to gain one for Manchester.

More parochially, Adam Reid at The French is shortlisted in four categories in the upcoming Manchester Food and Drink Awards. Moor Hall is at No.2 in the recently launched Confidentials' Top 100 Restaurants in the North West with The French four places behind.

Adam said on receiving the award, “To be awarded a fourth rosette after just 18 months since opening is amazing, it is all down to the hard work and dedication of the team in both the kitchen and service. Creating our own identity and personality has been our main aim and to see these accolades arriving on the back of that makes us very proud.”

The AA awards, celebrating their 21st anniversary, were presented by BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing co-host Claudia Winkleman, at London’s Grosvenor House.

The other two five AA rosette winners were both in London – Core by Clare Smyth and Claude Bosi at Bibendum. Veteran Bosi was also named Chef’s Chef of the Year. Seven restaurants collected four rosettes and 28 received three rosettes.
