Albert’s Schloss named Greater Manchester’s best bar

12 April 2017 by Neil Sowerby

SELF-STYLED ‘Bohemian pleasure palace’ Albert’s Schloss has been named best venue in Greater Manchester by the annual National Pub & Bar Awards.

It is competing against 93 other county champions across Britain in the quest for the overall national award, which in 2016 went to a very different North West establishment – country pub The Church Inn at Mobberley.

The grand final of the competition, run by Pub & Bar magazine will take place at BAFTA in London on Tuesday, May 23.

According to the magazine, the 2017 county winners have been selected around multiple marks of quality, assessing every element that goes into making a hospitality experience truly excellent.

Albert's Schloss, which has been sensationally successful since opening on Peter Street in 2015, winning Bar of the Year in the 2016 Manchester Food and Drink Awards.

The £3.5m project came about after vodka chain bar Revolution founders Roy Ellis and Neil Macleod bought a 50 per cent stake in Trof Group (owners of The Deaf Institute and Gorilla) with a view to opening ‘the best entertainment venues and bars in the world’ together under a new company called Mission Mars.

In the race to be regional, then national pub of the year at the awards it will be up against the humbler likes of The Cock Inn, Mugginton (Derbyshire) and South Ayrshire’s The Smoking Goat.
