THE new Yu in Alderley Edge has been voted one of the best Chinese restaurants in the UK – the only one outside London to earn a coveted three-tier Pagoda listing in theThe Legacy of Taste awards.
The much lauded Restaurant A.Wong in London’s Victoria also joins the exclusive club of six, all of which “demonstrating a groundbreaking Chinese dining experience, comparable on a global scale”.
Supported by Tsingtao Beer and Cathay Pacific, the Legacy of Taste event took place in The Grosvenor Hotel and also saw Marks and Spencer awarded Best Take Home Chinese Food Range.
Chef/patron Victor Yu says: “We’re over the moon to have won a three-tiered Pagoda. We’re the only Chinese restaurant in the village so with little direct competition here, it’s amazing to have been compared to the rest of the best in Britain.”
The Legacy of Taste judging panel consists of Michelin Star Chinese chefs, TV chefs, Chinese cookery authors and experts in the UK and Chinese food industry.
