EVEN after your bonfire has quit smouldering and the last firework has fizzled out you’ll still be able to get your fill of smokiness at popular Chorlton bar The Beagle. Until Sunday, November 29 they are hosting a foodie celebration called Up In Smoke. This follows their October promotion, which stretched out the Mexican Day of the Dead to a month.
Smoke-influenced treats for this month include chipotle and paprika heavy Aubergine Dip ‘n’ Chips (£4), more red pepperiness in Paprika Pork Tacos (£4.50 for two, £5.50 for three), also featuring a charred pineapple and a picante Guajillo chilli sauce, and Smoked Out BBQ Ribs (£12.95) – a full rack of ribs smothered in an appropriately smoked BBQ sauce.
To finish, a Bonfire homage, Baked Toffee Apple at £3.50), served with cinder toffee ice cream from Ginger’s Comfort Emporium and a firework of spun sugar. Accompany it with an IIlegal Beagle cocktail (£7.50), a blend of smoky Ilegal mezcal and black treacle shaken with Calvados, Punt e Mes, fresh lime and Angostura bitters. Now for Christmas!
