THIS Saturday (June 17) marks the start of Altrincham’s Food & Drink Fortnight as the town aims go consolidate its reputation as the North West’s prime foodie destination.
Much of this is down to the opening of Altrincham’s much-garlanded Market House in 2014, which has generated to arrival of a number of quality food operations, including the likes of Porta and Sugo, both heavily nominated in this year’s Manchester Food and Drink Awards.
The special fortnight, which runs until Saturday July 21, involves a series of special events across the town centre. Highlights include a Sushi Night and Korean Barbecue at Sushi/Kimchi, a Radiant Supper Club with health author Hanna Sillitoe (pictured abiove) at Eat:kaizen, a Fathers’ Day Sri Lankan Sunday lunch at House Bar & Restaurant, Experimental Gin Tasting at Riddles Emporium (below) and Rum Flights at Drop Café Bar.
Fortnight organisers have produced a map to guide visitors round a “Tapas Trail’ encompassing small plates from Spanish to Italian, from French to Lebanese. Fancy something more hands-on? Indian cookery classes are on offer at New Dilli and the town’s branch of Sugar Junction is hosting a Junior Bake Off.
