A chippy that’s been considered a staple of the Ancoats food scene has been named second best in the UK, coming in behind The Mayfair in London.
The list which was collated by betting company Betway was put together by cross referencing statistical date based on three key metrics to rank the restaurants; Google ratings, Instagram hashtags and reviews on Tripadvisor.
Founded in 2012 and originally serving their meals from a giant tape deck shaped van, the chippy has come on leaps and bounds from it’s pop up roots, featuring in food markets around the North-West as well as plenty of events.
Their first location (which you’ll still find them in to this day) was founded in 2018 and their signature take on fish and chips is still being served there today.
Another local hero that made it onto Betway’s list was Tony’s Chippy in Miles Platting which came in at number seven.
For the sake of complete transparency, they were some mixed feelings from the owners about being placed so highly on a list which was essentially a PR campaign for a betting company but this was met almost instantly by a cry from it’s adoring fans reassuring them that although this may not have been the ‘right’ award, the recognition was still more than deserved.
