The national pub and bar awards 2023 have unveiled their picks for the County Winner titles for 2023 and five venues dotted across the North West (including one in Greater Manchester) have made the cut.
It was Ancoat's very own beloved Crown & Kettle that brought home the title for Manchester this year but despite our wealth of great boozers, it was the only Mancunian pick to have acheived winning status.
The other pubs to have made the list were the Bay Horse Inn in Cumbria, The white Bull at Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, The Swan at Marbury in Cheshire and The Windmill, Southport in Merseyside.
A deserved winner, the Crown & Kettle is loved for so many reasons, it’s historic interior, fantastic & seemingly ever-changing range of beers and it’s friendly and attentive staff. An integral part of Ancoat’s facelift over recent years and a key piece of Manchester history.
Tristan O’Hana, editor of Pub & Bar magazine had this to say: “We were overwhelmed by the level and quality of entries this year.
“It just goes to show what magnificent work is going on across the UK hospitality sector. With outrageous energy costs, recruitment shortages and a punishing taxation system, these businesses are once again facing tough times. Now, more than ever, it’s vital that people support their local pubs and bars.”
