TO celebrate its two nominations in this year’s Manchester Food and Drink Awards (Casual Restaurant and Newcomer categories) Elnecot in Ancoats is hosting a six-course Vegan Tasting Menu on Tuesday, August 28.
It might almost double up as a first anniversary bash – just a month short of its launch as a self-styled ‘neighbourhood kitchen’ in the city’s most enterprising foodie quarter.
Chef/patron Michael’s cooking has always impressed us (Summer Menu review) and this one-off menu is full of imaginative twists…
Tomato consomme, confit tomatoes, Manchester stout garlic puree, lovage oil; Hay-baked kohlrabi, pine nut ‘mayo’, dill pollen; Tandoori tofu, dahl puree, preserved garlic, mango chutney; Leather britches (green beans), oyster mushroom ketchup, hazelnut, charred leeks; Sorbet; Apricot and lemon balm cake with strawberry ice cream.
Tickets cost £36 a head (flight of three vegan wines an extra £12 when booked, £16 on the night) and there will be two sittings at 6pm and 8pm.
