SPRING is always an inspiration for chefs and few celebrate it better than Andrew Green at The Lowry Hotel’s River Restaurant. It helps when you’ve built up such an impressive range of regional suppliers (above) but the proof is in the eating and April’s Chef’s Choice Menu looks so good it’s hard not to order everything.
But the special deal is enjoy three courses with two glasses of Prosecco or selected red or white wine for just £39 per couple, and pay an additional £20 if you wish to have the full bottle of Prosecco or wine. This special offer must be purchased as a voucher from this link.
Here’s what’s on offer.
Market soup (v); Pearl barley risotto, pea pois, wild garlic, mushroom foam (v); Smoked trout mousse, beetroot, quinoa, rainbow radish, yoghurt; Rabbit rillette, prune, rhubarb, spring onion.
Loin of pork, bubble & squeak, romanesco, baby apples, calvados jus; Crayfish and squid spaghetti, heritage baby tomatoes, shellfish sauce; Seared filled of sea bream, pea and nettle mousseline, crushed jersey royals, sea kale; Asparagus & brie tart, leeks, corn leaf, balsamic caviar (v).

The Sunday Lunch Special Offer is attractive, too. Enjoy two courses for two people and a glass of Prosecco for just £36.00 per couple. If you prefer all three courses, the menu is still available for £22.50 per person. To round off your Sundat afternoon there’s entertainment from resident Kimm. For an extra special Sunday lunch, though, check out the Easter Sunday Menu, available from 12pm to 5pm on April 16. It costs £50 a head, but look at ther delights on offer.
Pea Soup and Dill crème fraiche (v); Dressed crab, confit baby fennel and samphire salad, crunchy brown crab meat and lime aioli; Ham hock terrine, pickled baby vegetables, pistachio crumb, mustard mayo, soft quail egg; Crème leek tart fine, sauce vierge, crispy leek.
Roast ‘Mettricks’ sirloin with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, Seasonal vegetables and red wine sauce; Lamb rack, purple sprouting broccoli, rainbow carrots, pomme boulangere, rosemary sauce; Pan fried fillet of seatrout, grilled asparagus, petit pois, pressed Jersey royal new potatoes, hollandaise sauce; Spinach and goat’s cheese pithivier, caramelised onions and balsamic glaze.
