If you’ve missed popping into town to pick up some freshly made sourdough bagels and a bouquet of flowers now that Bread Flower has vacated its temporary home in the bungalow at KAMPUS, then we’ve got great news for you.
The bagel shop and florist concept will be taking over the Counter space within Ducie Street Warehouse from Monday 14th February. Counter will be filled with fresh flowers and sourdough bagels every Monday to Saturday, from 10am to 2pm. The Bread Flower takeover is part of a new food concept collaboration series that will be hosted across the Ducie Street Warehouse space throughout 2022.
Bread Flower was established by friends Maya Black and Scarlett Jamieson in 2020 to combine their love of (and considerable skills in) sourdough baking and floral design.
Their freshly baked, hand-rolled sourdough bagels will be available as sandwiches to eat in or to takeaway. The bagels are also available to buy by the dozen or half dozen with pots of flavoured schmear (cream cheese).
The have come up with a new bespoke menu for the Counter takeover, including smoked salmon with caper and schmear; carrot lox (vegan smoked salmon) with dairy-free caper and dill schmear; pastrami with mustard & pickle schmear and fresh rocket; and a rainbow veggie bagel with beef tomato, avocado, cucumber and beetroot schmear. Toasted bagels, bagels by the bag and schmears are available too.
A selection of flowers will also be available to buy in single variety bunches such as tulips, anemones, roses, eucalyptus, while mixed arrangements and larger bouquets will be available to pre-order from the Bread Flower website. The flower selection will change monthly and vases and cards are also available for purchase.
The Counter at Ducie Street Warehouse also serves teas and coffees from Manchester based speciality coffee suppliers, Blossom Coffee Roasters. Next to the Counter, customers will find the Pantry which offers a wide selection of beers, wines and canned cocktails, as well as snacks and artisan food cupboard – perfect for guests to grab when staying at the aparthotel upstairs, Native Manchester, housed within the warehouse-chic surroundings of the Grade II listed building.
