Band on the Wall's globe-spanning curry menu in the Picturehouse Bar

20 May 2014

Opening on Thursday (22 May), with 2-4-1 curries all night, the Picturehouse bar at Band on the Wall venue in the Northern Quarter looks set to become as much of a destination for food and drink as it is for music. Home to legendary DJ Mr Scruff, as well as live jazz, funk, roots, soul - and everything in between - Band on the Wall is widely regarded as the music connoisseur's venue of choice in Manchester.

Located adjacent to Band on the Wall, The Picturehouse Bar is housed in a Grade 2 listed former cinema. It's home to fine beers, good music and now home-cooked curries which are unique in Manchester, taking in both the city's Caribbean and Asian influences.

The menu includes masala fried fish, jerk chicken, the fabulously named 'Spice Master Giles Speciality Chicken Curry', Curry Goat, spicy lamb koftas and vegan-friendly fare like daal, saag aloo and Caribbean curried butternut squash. If you like the sound of everything, tuck into 'rice'n'three' curries for the same price as a large helping of one. Curries are served with rice'n'peas or pilau rice and cost £7.50.

From Thu 22 May, The Picturehouse Bar, Band on the Wall, 25 Swan St, The Northern Quarter, Manchester M4 5JZ. Tel: 0161 834 1786, food 5pm - 9pm, www.bandonthewall.org
