HALLOWEEN’S a big deal these days with more spooky events than you can shake a zombie at. Foodwise, it’s not a chilling feast unless you decide to recycle all that pumpkin flesh into a soup or a gratin. Taste of Manchester expects you’ll be too busy applying the make-up to care. Here’s a few foodie-friendly events that might fill you with more than dread…
Levy Market Night Spooktakular
The Levenshulme Market usually runs on Saturdays but for Fright Night it is switching to Friday, October 30. with the ghoulish fun kicking off at dusk, fancy dress recommended. There’s live music from Cosmic Ray and The Constellations and a pumpkin carving competition open to all ages. Stall holders are getting into the spirit with Those Four (bar tenders) serving creepy cocktails to match Oh My Glaze‘s chicken dishes. There’s plenty more on offer too, in the car park behind Levenshulme Station. There will be no Saturday market on Halloween (Oct 31) itself.

It’s a monster match between Post Box Cafe and Dulcimer
Chorlton’s Post Box Cafe will host a three-course Spooktakular dinner – with live music from The Spooks, plus entertainment from Zombie Bros Circus and Phyllis Von Hoist – which will be followed by an after party at Dulcimer. Prizes will be awarded for the best Halloween costume. Tickets, price £30 a head, are available from both venues and via this link.

Cherry Pie all round as Kosmonaut toasts Twin Peaks
Kosmonaut are celebrating Halloween with a homage to Twin Peaks, serving espresso martinis and cherry pie and offering prizes for the best costumes on the night.

Flaming Zombie Ribs at Cane & Grain
The Northern Quarter cocktail haunt is giving one of its most popular dishes the undead treatment in the run up to Halloween. Try their limited edition Flaming Zombie Ribs, made from a whole slab of spare ribs slathered in the chef’s homemade boozy and fiery Zombie sauce and finished off with tiki salt house fries and a flaming core.
