Book here for amazing Hawksmoor Action Against Hunger Dinner

25 August 2016 by Neil Sowerby

ACTION Against Hunger has assembled a team of chefs, writers and restaurant industry stalwarts for a fund-raising trek across Ethiopia’s challenging Simien mountain range in early October. Ahead of them lies 80km of rocky trails and steep escarpments over four days, at altitudes of up to 4,400m.

The plan is to raise over £100,000, so the charity can aid malnourished children in countries such as Ethiopia, South Sudan, Nigeria, Nepal and Somalia.

One of the first to sign up was food critic and Manchester Wire editor Ruth Allan. To further help the cause she has teamed up with Hawksmoor on Deansgate to stage an amazing five-course banquet in their sumptuous private dining room (below) next Thursday (September 1).

Diners will enjoy five courses of ‘Hawksmoor Classics’ with hand-paired wines . It costs £100 a head but 100 per cent of that is going directly to Action Against Hunger. What are you waiting for? Only 14 places are available. Book your ticket here.

The menu is subject to change but it’s likely to include short rib nuggets with a melting Ogleshield cheese centre and kimchi ketchup, delicate cuts of prime Ginger Pig sticky pork belly – and then there’s world-class steak. Enjoy a range of prime cuts with sauces and sides such as anchovy hollandaise and short rib macaroni. Diners could enjoy the best sticky toffee pudding in the world for pudding with Hawksmoor’s Tributes (melting, salted caramel chocolates like a grown up take on Rolos) to take home at the end.

if you can’t make the dinner donate to the team fundraising page.

Hawksmoor Manchester, 184-186 Deansgate, Manchester M3 3WB. 0161 836 6980, Thu Sept 1, 7pm-11pm.  £100 per ticket, 14 tickets only.
