FOOD isn’t a focal point of Salford’s Not Quite Light Festival, a vibrant offshoot of photographer Simon Buckley’s pre-dawn adventures, capturing urban light and shade. But one of the stand-out events of this sophomore fest encompassing art, music and architecture is Dinner in the Dark at Firefly, the intimate evening dining space at Foodwell.
This disorienting experience asks the blindfolded diners to rely on taste not vision to eat a two course meal prepared by Foodwell’s chefs, all proceeds going to Henshaws, the oldest charity in Greater Manchester, which supports people with visual impairment.
The aim is to demonstrate how your senses are changed and heightened by not being able to see. Waiters will be on hand to explain and assist as the night unfolds.
Places for the dinner on Thursday, March 26 are limited to 40 and cost £45 a head with discounts for parties of six or eight. The price includes a two course meal and one glass of wine or beer. Vegan and gluten-free requests will be catered for.
