Booze, Grooves and Views – Where to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Manchester

If you prefer to start the New Year with a bang, then last year might have been a bit of a disappointment. Fear not, many restaurants and bars are doubling their efforts this year with fantastic food, drink and entertainment. Many have extended their opening hours too so you can celebrate the launch of 2022 deep into New Year’s Day. 

Here are a few places you might want to consider for your New Year’s Eve celebrations 2021/22.

Get high above Manchester at 20 Stories 

Manchester’s highest restaurant and bar is hosting a spectacular four-course dinner to bring in 2022 with 360-degree views of the city and live entertainment.

Guests will be welcomed at 8pm with a glass of Tattinger champagne followed by dinner at 8:30pm. The menu will consist of a Manchester Gin cured salmon roulade, Beef Wellington and a white chocolate fondant with lime and coconut sorbet. Vegetarian options are also available. General tickets are priced at £150 per person and wine flights can also be purchased at an additional £45 per person.

You can secure a guaranteed window spot with a VIP premium table which includes a glass of Dom Perignon on arrival, plus the four-course meal for £250 per person. There’s also the option for guests to dine in a Snow Globe overlooking the city under faux fur blankets from 9pm with a welcome glass of Tattinger, a sharing platter and a guaranteed seat for £100 per person.

If you and your guests really want to splash out, hire one of 20 Stories’ stunning Garden Houses for the evening with a £1,000 minimum spend as you say cheers to the New Year with your favourite cocktails and champagne to celebrate.

There will also be live music playing throughout the evening, counting down to midnight and celebrations will continue into the early morning with the restaurant and bar closing at 3am.

Dine & Dance into the New Year with a riotous celebration at The Refuge 

The Refuge by Volta will be welcoming in 2022 with a signature show stopping spectacle hosted in the Public Bar. Following a low-key New Year’s Eve last year, they intend to make up for lost time with an emphasis on togetherness, where everyone is welcome – to come as you are. 

Resident Supernature Disco and DJ Paulette will be providing the soundtrack in the bar through to the Dining Room until late. “Let’s Dance” early bird tickets are priced from £20 per person and available to purchase online HERE.

The menu is packed with delicious dishes inspired by Volta’s travels, including venison loin carpaccio, puffed potatoes and much more. The kitchen also offers vegetarian and vegan options that feature many favourite dishes, from smoked aubergine arancini, roasted figs to black bean tacos. For dessert, there’s ‘not your grandma’s trifle’ and finish the evening off with petits fours.

See in the New Year in exceptional style at the Stock Exchange Hotel

New Years Eve at WOOD Manchester

For a unique and exclusive way to welcome the New Year in style, there are a limited number of tables available at WOOD Manchester. Chef owner Simon Wood, Masterchef Champion 2015, and his brigade will deliver his all-inclusive 9 course dinner menu. This will be paired with a selection of their favourite wines uniquely sourced throughout the year by General Manager and Head Sommelier James. Guests will also get to a sample of the new after dinner experience Homage at WOOD with a classic cheese and Port pairing.

Entertainment will be provided by magician Dominic Anthony who will be on site for part of the evening to bring an element of magic to guests. No doubt Simon Wood will have picked a signature playlist to accompany the meal as music is another passion of his.

Cabaret the night away at Escape to Freight Island


Escape To Freight Island is proud to be hosting a spectacular New Year’s Eve starting from 12 noon right through until the early hours of 2022. Expect an array of different options and events to choose from family friendly fun to late night frolics. Escape to Freight Island offers something to suit everyone from a visionary food market to a unique array of bars including craft beer tap room, neighbourhood cocktail bar and intimate wine bar. 

The ticket hall inside will be transformed into Escape to Freight Island’s very own Revue – a cabaret from the ages for all ages, a selection of soul, funk, disco and house music. Also happening within the outside space, is Winter Island with festive offerings such as mulled wine, boozy hot chocolates and festive treats. Both inside and outside space will be sound-tracked by Manchester’s best DJs and selectors across the daytime.

To make the night extra special, there’s a range of VIP and Experience such as The Jane Eyre Cocktail Bar in the Sky priced at £40 per person (plus booking fee). This includes a welcome cocktail, canapés on arrival, and an elevated VIP view of the entertainment all night.

The Baratxuri Experience is priced at £60 per person plus fee and includes two course dinner, wine, your entry ticket and table for the evening.

The Blues Kitchen are offering a night of soulful celebration so can see the new year in true Blues style with cocktails, beers & bourbon. 

From 9pm the legendary Blues Kitchen house band will be performing three live sets of funk and soul classics. Then, feel free to dance the night away with DJs playing classic grooves until 3am. 

Tables after 9pm are available to book for £40 per person (food and drink not included) then yours for the entirety of the evening. If you fancy fuelling up beforehand, book in for food before 7.30pm, after which you are welcome to take your party to the bar and dancefloor to see in the New Year.

A Magical Midland New Year’s Eve 


To ring in the New Year in style, The Midland Hotel is hosting a celebration filled with live music, delicious food and champagne, ready for the big countdown to 2022.

Located in the luxurious Champagne Lounge on the ground floor, guests can enjoy a bottle of Pommery Champagne and graze on a a specially curated NYE Midland Charcuterie Platter for £55 per person. This includes house smoked salmon, baked Camembert with chorizo, hummus, piccalilli with quail eggs, sliced Parma ham, peppered salami, Milano salami, Gordal olives and more.

Live music and entertainment from The Midland Hotel’s very own DJ, the in-house butcher John, who will be playing from 10pm – 1am.

Book your NYE table at Flawd!


Celebrate New Year's Eve at neighbourhood natural wine bar & bottle shop Flawd which opened on Islington Marina in September. Joseph Otway (former head chef of Stockport’s Where The Light Gets In), Richard Cossins (from Relæ in Copenhagen and Fera at Claridges in London) and Daniel Craig Martin have put together an evening of grower Champagne and British seafood at £25 per person. The menu for the evening will focus on the pristine seafood from around the British Isles.Food will be served until midnight and the party will continue until 2am. 

There are three opportunities to join the party which starts from 4pm and goes on until 2am. Seatings are 6pm / 8:15pm / or 10:30pm-Late (Tables reserved at either 6pm or 8:15pm are required back in two hours.)
