Butcher’s Quarter open second city centre site at Great Northern Warehouse

2 July 2021 by Deanna Thomas

Due to the success of its Northern Quarter shop, city centre artisan butcher Butcher’s Quarter is to open a new site at Deansgate Mews in the Great Northern Warehouse estate later this month.

Officially opening on Wednesday June 30th, The Butcher’s Quarter will incorporate a sophisticated artisan butcher, a cheesemonger, a deli and a tasting room.

The news reflects a demand from the growing number of people living in the city centre who are looking to support good quality independent shops which offer a personal service. The Butchers Quarter use time-honoured techniques, with a contemporary edge and will bring a new food shopping experience to Deansgate with locally sourced and delicious produce.

Customers will be able to purchase a range of the highest quality beef, pork, chicken and lamb - all sourced from Cheshire farms. The cattle are all free-range, grass-fed in the growing season, and grown to the highest levels of husbandry available. The Butcher’s Quarter also offers beef aging to enhance tenderness and flavour to the meat.

Committed to offering its customers the best tasting cheeses, The Butcher’s Quarter is associated with one of the best Cheesemongers in the UK, Ian Mellis of Edinburgh who has worked in the British cheese industry for almost 40 years.

The Butcher’s Quarter also offers stylish tasting rooms for guests to experience tasting platters inspired by butchers and delis on the back streets of Rome. The tasting room allows guests to spend a little time sampling the wide range of European cheese and charcuterie

As The Butcher’s Quarter will be licensed for customers to drink on or off the premises, these can all be washed it down with a glass wine.

“We’re extremely excited to launch our second shop at the Great Northern Warehouse, to offer the people of Manchester fresh, delicious meats, cheeses and wines,” says owner Graeme Hogg.

“The Butcher’s Quarter guarantees great quality produce alongside an unforgettable experience, so it felt only right to join forces with the Great Northern, which is already home to a vibrant and ever-expanding set of independent local businesses.”

Speaking of the collaboration, Mark Schofield, Centre Director for Great Northern Warehouse said: “The team at Great Northern Warehouse are really pleased to welcome such a locally iconic brand to the family of independent businesses the Mews is home to. Their offering truly brings something new to our mix of leisure and entertainment brands and I’m sure their delicious product offering will be a huge hit with Great Northern guests.”
