The nation is coming together to celebrate the best of British food. From artisan producers, growers and farmers to those dishes synonymous with the countryâs culinary heritage, British Food Fortnight (BFF) honours all that makes Britainâs food scene what it is today.
Now in its eighth year, the two-week event (September 19 â October 4) is the biggest promotion of British food, with special offers, menus and activities taking place in locations across the country.
To celebrate this culinary corner of Britain, a number of venues throughout the North West are taking part in BFF. Dunham Massey, in Altrincham, is hosting a gourmet lunch inside its Stables restaurant on Saturday, September 24 when Dunhamâs very own venison will take centre stage. A series of tasting sessions are also taking place there throughout BFF.
Bolton Market is holding a Best of British Feast to showcase its brand new kitchen demonstration area. Local chefs will be cooking up classic dishes and there will also be themed special offers on seasonal produce and recipe cards. The events will be taking place on Thursday, October 24 and Tuesday, 29 September.
Further north, Rheged, in Penrith, Cumbria, is holding a Great Food Forage on Saturday, October 3, which will include a Cumbrian food producers festival, foraging in the fells, a Cumbrian food safari and a Ready, Steady, Cook contest.
