THESE colourful confections are livening up the cake counter at Harvey Nichols from today (Friday, February 12). Taste of Manchester suggests you buy one for the love of your life this Valentine’s. So much sweeter than flowers!
They were created by the vivid imagination and nimble hands of Charlotte O’Toole, better known as Bakeorama, whose fabulous kitsch, creations first came to prominence at Home Sweet Home in the Northern Quarter. Now she’s been hired by Harvey Nicks expect more of the same, taking inspiration from films, pop culture and all things retro (we especially love Disco Bear above, detail below).
Charlotte trained as a pastry chef in Liverpool in her late twenties before moving to Manchester. After three years at Home Sweet and as they were about to open a second outlet at the Great Northern Warehouse decided to jump ship and launch her own kitchen in Chorlton and the Bakeorama brand.
