Secret Wine Tasting Treasure Hunt with Andy The Wine Guy A flight of five high quality wines to be served at a secret, historic Manchester location, disclosed on the night via a short series of hidden clues. The treasure hunt will take you to several of the city's hottest wine establishments along the way, where you're, of course, welcome to purchase a snifter to get in the mood.

Sun Oct 9, 3pm. £25. Only 25 places available. Buy via this link.

Big Indie Wine Fest Taking over the stunning Gallery Three overlooking Whitworth Park, this perennially popular MFDF event promises an exhibition of boutique wines from across the globe that are works of art in themselves from the likes of Veeno, Pacta Connect, Commanderie de Bordeaux, Alpine Wines, Italy Abroad, Urban Grapevine, T Wright Wines, Comptoir Libanais and Reserve. There’ll be suitable refuelling opportunities provided by regional food producers. Your ticket gets you your glass for the session – and then you're free to taste, talk and try your way around the tasting hall sampling exclusive wines and learning from the best.

Fri and Sat Oct 7 and 8. The Whitworth, Oxford Road, M15 6ER. £15 a session. There are three sessions available – Fri 6pm-9pm; Sat 2pm-5pm and 6pm-9pm. Book via this link

Three Wine Women

After the success of last year’s ‘Three Wine Women’ MFDF is restaging the event on a new theme and with a revamped cast. The Sunday Telegraph and Saturday Kitchen’s wine guru Susy Atkins (above) will join our own Kate Goodman (owner of Didsbury’s Reserve Wine Shop and BBC personality) and Evuna Manchester’s Spanish crusader Jane Dowler to host an evening of fabulous wines.

Thur Sept 29. 6.30pm. Festival Hub, Albert Square, M2 5DB. £25 plus booking fee. Book via this link.

And if all this gives you the taste drop in on Kate’s side project (with Mark German and Anna Tutton below, Vin Van Voom. This year the silver van with the rotating selection of wines and mini-tastings  is offering its own covered area with cushions and blankets. It’s at the Festival Hub noon-11pm, Sept 29-Oct 9.
